Docket Specialist
The candidate will record documents with critical dates in CourtAlert Case Management System and verify calculated procedural due dates based knowledge of applicable rules and statutes. Request intake forms and open new cases in CourtAlert. Perform required legal research on applicable court rules and research on court orders. Synch documents with the corresponding docket entries in CourtAlert. Interface with attorneys, paralegals and practice assistants, responding in a timely manner to questions regarding calendared events, pleadings, court procedures and modifications to compliance dates in the docket. Create and maintain basic/specialized docketing reports as requested. Prepare weekly and bi-weekly calendar reports and provide daily reminders to attorneys of upcoming appearances. Display professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to all members of the firm. Work closely with the National Docket Manager, and as a team player by helping other docket specialists. Perform additional duties as directed. Combination of college level training or paralegal certificate along with experience that demonstrates an ability to do the essential functions of the position is required. Should have 2+ years of experience as a general litigation calendar clerk, docket specialist, paralegal, legal assistant or legal support role with docket responsibilities. Knowledge of CourtAlert (or similar docketing software), Pacer, Lexis-Nexis Practical Guidance and MS Office is required. Proficiency in CourtAlert docketing software or similar rules-based docket management software and performing complex deadline calculations is required. Extensive knowledge of federal, state, local and agency rules of procedure and practice is required.
