Job Summary
The General Ledger Manager manages and coordinates financial activities (e.g., site performance reviews, problem resolution, documentation, etc.) and communications for record to report accounting functions. The incumbent collaborates with cross-functional groups, committees, internal and external customers, business units, districts, and regions. This position manages the development, enhancement, and implementation of financial and data analysis processes and procedures. This role reviews financial data and accounts and monitors collection, maintenance, and reporting of data and statistics. This position will manage Finance & Accounting (F&A) Shared Services and/or Global Accounting Centers (GAC) site locations. This position will manage supervisors, specialists, and administrative staff. The General Ledger Manager will also be responsible for the management/migration of work into Shared Service GAC sites.
The General Ledger Manager collaborates with internal customers to understand local country accounting policies and procedures. This position reviews process improvement recommendations to ensure thorough and efficient accounting services. This role works with Country Finance Teams to ensure accuracy of monthly financial statements. The General Ledger Manager provides accounting projects and issues updates to inform Finance and Accounting management.
Responsibilities
Maintains strategic relationships with regulatory agencies to assist with compliance issues
Evaluates internal controls over general ledger processes to ensure compliance
Completes ad hoc projects (e.g., conducts research, documents findings, coordinates management reviews, etc.) to support senior management
Maintains strategic relationships with vendors to ensure proper service
Develops presentations to summarize and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Maintains cross-functional relationships to achieve business objectives
Assists Shared Services Site Controller with strategy decisions to ensure organizational goals are achieved
Coaches others and provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance
Preferences
Applies standard GAAP methods; makes recommendations to improve practices or procedures in compliance with GAAP
Considers industry and financial trends when making account decisions; understands critical aspects of business models and operating structures to provide input into decisions
Develops plans that balance details and the “big picture”; adapts the level of detail required for a given audience and the purpose; completes work with thoroughness; maintains records and information in an organized manner; audits available information for inconsistencies; maintains documentation that support the completion of work and retention of details/decisions
Reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives
Demonstrates a basic understanding of the functions, regulations, and procedures of compliance agencies or governing bodies; takes a leadership position in programs that reduce risk and enhance safety
Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience with project management
