You will develop and implement accounting practices and procedures for the North America Region. You will provide and interpret data from accounting records and coordinate accounting services and integrate them with operating needs. This role is responsible of managing and overseeing accounting activities which include improving processes as well as ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual activities are completed accurately and on a timely basis. This role may also include people management responsibilities as well as support marketing, manufacturing, leasing and payroll activities. Also accountable of setting up and monitor accounting KPIs and financial accounting objectives as well as its measurements.
How you will contribute
You will:
Manage elements of the monthly accounting close process including ensuring accurate and timely U.S. GAAP/local GAAP reporting and the timeliness and integrity of local financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations and KPIs. You will also provide insights into balance sheet movements and cash flow and support implementation of process change projects
Ensure a strong controls and compliance environment in your area of scope and ensure full compliance with our AER policies
Coordinate accounting services and integrate them with operating needs. You will also provide and interpret data from accounting records as needed
Lead projects to drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP, CLM and FIT/HFM reporting tools and build a mindset of continuous improvement within the team. You will also lead implementation efforts on new accounting guidance
Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER) team (Mondelēz International employees and Mondelēz International Business Services business partner). Depending on the nature of the role, your job may involve recruiting and developing talent across AER and to drive our AER talent agenda globally

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE in accounting and external reporting including understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS or local GAAP, close processes and financial reporting systems. Expertise in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting. General knowledge of tax laws and indirect and direct tax
BUSINESS ACUMEN and an understanding of our business and finance beyond accounting and external reporting scope

Job Responsibilities include:
Overall responsibility for NA/US accounting and external reporting
Ensure US GAAP and company policies are adhered to for all transactions
Improve quality of NA region balance sheet reconciliations
Review of balance sheet account reconciliations and support resolution of issues
Liaison between Mondelēz Business Services business partners and NA business (i.e. Genpact for general, manufacturing, marketing, payroll and intercompany accounting and Accenture for accounts payable and GRIR, Corporate teams)
Ensure monthly and annual SOX requirements are met for accounting processes
Provide guidance and leadership for accounting process improvements and ensures projects are completed according to agreed timelines
Manages one direct report (Senior Analyst, Accounting)
Work to ensure standardization of processes and adoption of best practices across locations
Support Internal/External Audit and Internal Controls team and BU/HQ management with ad hoc accounting information and analysis.
Lead special projects
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science and/or Business degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is strongly preferred
8 or more years of experience in various accounting areas
Strong experience in account analysis with a background in Blackline a plus
Strong team player who manages collaboratively with all stakeholders
Consumer Packaged Goods experience is strongly preferred
Technical expertise in accounting and external reporting including understanding of US GAAP or local GAAP, closing processes and financial reporting systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and financial system knowledge (SAP, HFM, FIT)
SAP experience preferred
Knowledge in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting
Leadership skills including proven business partnering and communication skills
Experience working as a leader managing cross-functional and business partner relationships to drive timely and accurate results
Strong communication skills and team player
Strong experience in balance sheet account analysis.
Independence and self-motivated
Demonstrated experience in process management and process improvement
Need to be able to handle/analyze large amounts of complex data
