Job Overview

A distinguished law firm based in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic intellectual property team. Duties

• Lead or co-lead significant aspects of complex patent litigation matters

• Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and correspondence for federal court and administrative proceedings

• Develop and implement litigation strategy, including pre-trial, trial, and appellate phases

• Manage all phases of discovery, including document review, depositions, and expert reports

• Prepare infringement and invalidity contentions, claim construction briefing, and inter partes review filings

• Participate in Markman hearings and claim construction presentations

• Conduct direct and cross-examinations during trial, and assist in witness preparation

• Handle Federal Circuit appeals, including drafting briefs

• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and litigation support staff

• Engage in strategic communication and negotiation with opposing counsel

Requirements

• Minimum 4-8 years of direct experience in patent litigation

• Substantial involvement in all phases of trial and appellate-level IP litigation

• Hands-on experience with inter partes review (IPR) proceedings and PTAB practice

• Strong understanding of technical subject matter, preferably in EE or CS domains

• Exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex assignments independently

• Prior experience managing junior attorneys or litigation teams is a plus

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• USPTO registration (preferred but not required)
